Deicide’s “Banished By Sin” tour made a solid stop at the Baltimore Soundstage on September 8th, delivering exactly what their fans came for: tight, powerful death metal from one of the genre’s pioneers. The band played with a sense of ease that comes with decades of experience, but the energy and enthusiasm on stage felt fresh.
The crowd, a mix of loyal longtime fans and newer faces, filled the venue with excitement well before the first note hit. As soon as Deicide took the stage, they jumped straight into the heavy riffs and relentless drumming they’re known for. Glen Benton’s vocals were as deep and gritty as ever, while the guitar work from Kevin Quirion and Taylor Nordberg was sharp and precise. Drummer Steve Asheim, a constant force behind the kit, kept the pace driving forward, keeping the audience hooked throughout.
The Baltimore Soundstage was a great setting for the show. Its intimate feel allowed everyone to really experience the band up close, creating a connection between the audience and the musicians. Benton, in particular, kept the banter light, engaging with the crowd and giving the night a fun, laid-back vibe.
One of the standout moments was the performance of “Banished By Sin,” a newer track that hit just as hard as the old classics like “Dead by Dawn” and “Homage for Satan.” It was great to see the crowd embrace both old and new material with equal enthusiasm, and the pit stayed active for most of the night.
The gallery, captured at the request of Adrenaline PR, managed to catch shots of the band in action, with the lighting and atmosphere adding to the overall vibe of the night.
In all, it was a fantastic evening for death metal fans, with Deicide proving once again that they’re still as relevant and powerful as ever. If you have the chance to catch them on the “Banished By Sin” tour, it’s well worth it!
